The soup is too salty! SaltySalty!

Yesterday, I went to the Dim Sum Dollies courtesy of, quite-possibly one of my favourite people of the moment, my catering account manager.

Thank goodness the ticket was free.

I've never watched the previous Dollies' show, and from what I hear, I'm glad I didn't. Otherwise, its sheer brilliance would have tainted my innocent observatories of the items that followed last night.

The first half was a hoot, and then intermission came...after which, I think freshness and originality left with it because the second half was flatter than a piece of pappadum steam-rollered. Afterall, you can only spoof NKF so many times in one show. I felt a sense of deja-vu listening to the satires though. They reflected too much my conversations with someone about freedom and people that live here. I still wonder why they decided to end the show with a Sing-aLong of Singapore songs though.

It just didn't ring true.

I've always felt that Selena Tan was overhyped, and sadly, the show only reinforced that notion. Hossan Leong was a hit and miss. Sometimes I was in awe and other times, I just wish he would trip in his skirt. He has a nice voice for jazz though.

Emma Yong, on the other hand, made me regret skipping her 'From Bjork to Broadway' singing showcase the second she opened her mouth. Whether it's Bollywood diva, Food Court Auntie or Zhang Ziyi (aka Ziyi Zhang) in disguise...I think she became one of my favourite local talents just like that *snaps fingers*.

Pam Oei, in all her quirky glory, was entertaining as usual - if a tad bit off last night. Her impersonation of Lucy Liu was one of the blah-est ones I've seen coming from her. But she's still won me over with her Adam-Sandler's Somebody Kill Me Please-styled folkslashrock solo: Shoot Me in the Head. It was strangely apt, reasons for which are only known to me. But it has something to do with my belief in love being like my belief in fish raining from the sky.

On that note, I shall leave this post.

Too many people are walking into my cubicle and I have a meeting at 3pm that I haven't done work for.

If I fall in love, shoot me in the head.
If I fall in love, just shoot me till I'm dead.
Smash my heart into a pulp, pulverise my brain.
If I fall in love, just shoot me in the head
Shoot Me in the Head - Pam Oei
